How to do it

  1. Set a single pulley just below knee height and strap an ankle cuff around the wrist of your working arm.
  2. Face the machine and step back one or two steps until the cable is taut.
  3. Hinge forward to about 45 degrees or lower and lift the working upper arm level with your torso, elbow bent 90 degrees.
  4. Straighten the elbow until the arm is fully extended behind you.
  5. Let the wrist return slowly until the elbow is bent 90 degrees again.

Tips

  • Keep the hand relaxed so the forearm and grip do not tire first.
  • Brace the free hand on your thigh or the frame.

Common mistakes

  • Lifting the whole arm up behind you instead of straightening the elbow.
  • Letting the upper arm drop on each rep.
