Knee to Wall Ankle Mobilization
The Knee to Wall Ankle Mobilization is a mobility exercise with no equipment for your calves. Share of the load in the Zulta muscle model: calves (soleus) 36%, tibialis anterior 28% and calves (gastrocnemius) 24%.
How to do it
- Half kneel facing a wall with the front foot flat, toes about a hand's width from the wall.
- Place the hands on the wall at chest height for balance.
- Keep the front heel down and drive the knee forward to touch the wall.
- Ease back, then repeat slowly for 30 to 45 seconds, breathing steadily.
- Move the foot back a little when touching gets easy, then switch sides.
Tips
- Aim the knee over the second toe.
- Keep the arch of the foot lifted, not collapsed.
Common mistakes
- Letting the heel lift to reach the wall.
- Letting the knee drift inward.
