How to do it

  1. Load equal plates on both horns and set the seat so the handles sit just above hip height.
  2. Sit with your back against the pad, fasten the thigh pad if there is one, and grab the handles.
  3. Start with the elbows bent about 90 degrees and pointing back.
  4. Press the handles down until your arms are straight beside your hips.
  5. Let the handles rise slowly back to the start without letting the shoulders lift.

Tips

  • Keep the elbows tucked in and pointing back the whole time.
  • Pause for a moment with the arms locked out.

Common mistakes

  • Leaning forward and using body weight to push the handles.
  • Letting the handles pull the shoulders up to the ears.
  • Unequal plates on each side.
