How to do it

  1. Stand tall holding a barbell with palms facing forward, hands shoulder-width, arms straight.
  2. Pin your elbows to your sides and brace your trunk.
  3. Curl the bar up in an arc until it is in front of your upper chest.
  4. Squeeze the biceps briefly at the top.
  5. Lower the bar slowly until your arms are fully straight.

Tips

  • Keep the elbows under the shoulders or slightly forward, never behind.
  • Straighten the arms fully at the bottom of every rep.

Common mistakes

  • Swinging the torso to get the bar moving.
  • Letting the elbows rise far forward at the top so the front of the shoulders takes over.
