Biceps
Kettlebell Curl
The Kettlebell Curl is a strength exercise with a kettlebell for your biceps. Share of the load in the Zulta muscle model: biceps (short head) 30%, biceps (long head) 29% and brachialis 17%.
How to do it
- Stand tall holding a kettlebell by the handle in your working hand, palm facing forward, bell hanging below the hand.
- Pin the elbow to your side and place the free hand on your hip.
- Curl the kettlebell up until the hand is in front of your shoulder.
- Squeeze the biceps at the top with the bell resting behind the wrist.
- Lower slowly until the arm is straight again.
Tips
- Hold the handle in the middle so the bell stays balanced.
- Brace the trunk so you do not lean away from the working arm.
Common mistakes
- Leaning the torso sideways to lift the bell.
- Letting the bell swing on the way down.
Muscles worked by the Kettlebell Curl
Share per muscle in the Zulta muscle model. The model spreads the load of one rep over 40 muscles, based on EMG and biomechanics research.
One arm at a time. Elbow flexion with a supinated grip: both biceps heads lead, brachialis assists, the forearm muscles hold the wrist.
